Dock Street Brewing Company is an award-winning, Philadelphia based brewery and brewpub. Independently founded in 1985, Dock Street was Philadelphia's First Craft Brewing Company, and one of the first Craft Breweries in the country, making us a true pioneer of American-made craft beer.

We are independently owned, family-run, and woman-owned. To this day, countless craft beer drinkers credit Dock Street as the beer that turned them onto small batch, artisanal beer. We’re known as much for our Award-Winning staples like our Dock Street Bohemian Pilsner or Dock Street Man Full of Trouble Porter as we are for our more experimental styles like Dock Street Barracuda, a deliciously tart ale brewed with raspberry and hibiscus. Our name, Dock Street, was chosen in honor of the historical Philadelphia seaport district which was, in the late 1700's, the largest producer of beer in the then-newly-formed country and home to pirates and statesmen alike who sat elbow to elbow enjoying a pint.

Visit either Dock Street Brewery location for a fun, laid-back hang with friends and family and our amazing bartenders! In addition to phenomenal, award-winning beers, you’ll also find craft cocktails with house-made syrups and Pennsylvania spirits (including our very own Vicio Mezcal) at both locations!

We're known to throw a mean party, featuring any and everything from comedy, prose reading, cheese-making, glass-blowing, mezcal tasting and live tattooing.

Check back often for updates like new additions to the menu for game days, parties and holidays, as well as party + event listing.

Seasonal Beers

Seasonal Beers

DOCK STREET summer HAZE

5% ABV 35 IBUs - Pale Ale - This hazy, straw-hued, light bodied Pale Ale is brewed with Pilsner, Munich, and Flaked Wheat which makes for a silky smooth body with a mildly sweet backbone. Hopped with all late stage and dry additions of Citra, Cascade, Amarillo, and Simcoe. Aromas and flavors of bold citrus and tropical fruit.

WINNER: WORLD BEER CUP 2024 SILVER MEDAL DOCK STREET BINDLESTIFF

4.8% ABV - This dry Belgian-style of beer is fundamentally a table Saison originating among the mining communities on the border of France and Belgium. Brewed with Pilsner malt and a moderate percentage of wheat. Fermented with a characterful Franco-Belgian yeast and delicately hopped with Loral, Hallertau Akoya, and a pinch of Mosaic.

DOCK STREET EL PUFFER MEXICAN LAGER

ABV 4.2% 20 IBUs - This light-bodied pale lager is designed to be incredibly easy drinking and refreshing. Brewed with a high percentage of flaked corn for a light mouthfeel and slightly sweet finish. As Mexico's single most important agricultural product, corn is believed to be the origin of life and is an ingredient that has defined this style over the years. Oaxaca-based artist Miguel Sanchez illustrated the label, centering on corn as a symbol of wealth, struggle and identity to the Zapotec communities of Oaxaca and all Mesoamerican civilizations. The puffer fish is a symbol of strength and self-protection. Sanchez also illustrated the label for Vicio Mezcal, Dock Street Spirits' award-winning mezcal. Serve with a lime and enjoy. ¡Salud!

DOCK STREET wedding beer

5.5% ABV - Wheat Ale - Dock Street Wedding Beer is brewed to celebrate love, marriage and good cheer with ingredients symbolizing unity, purity (of heart), love, prosperity, and joy. This Belgian-Style Wit Bier is brewed with 100% champagne yeast, making this the perfect brew to toast the newlyweds! It’s packed with auspicious ingredients including Lemon Verbena, Orange Blossom Honey, Rosehips, Coriander, Lemon Peel and Sage. A smooth, clean malt profile centered on barley and wheat is complemented by prominent fruitiness lent by the yeast, which, like the happiness after a great celebration, lingers long after the finish. High carbonation delivers big, jubilant bubbles to perfectly round out the profile of this special ale, the true Champagne of beers.

The Origin Story

The Origin Story

Here’s the short version.

Dock Street Brewing Company was founded in 1985, amidst a proverbial sea of watered down and adjunct-plagued lagers, as one of the first post-prohibition craft breweries in the country - and Philly’s first all-grain brewpub.

Now, we call a former brewery-turned-tile-factory-turned brewery at 22nd and Washington Avenue (Dock Street South) our home, with Dock Street Fishtown, a new taproom that opened in April 2023 anchoring us in Philly’s vibrant Fishtown neighborhood, as well. We’ve come a long way since our first location at 18th and Cherry – 1.6 miles, to be exact – but to this day, countless craft beer drinkers credit Dock Street as the beer that turned them away from yellow-tinged macro-brews and corn-infused light lager.

We’re known as much for our fearless experimental beers like the Dock Street Walker (brewed with goat brains in honor of our favorite show, The Walking Dead) as for staples like our Dock Street Bohemian Pilsner or our Dock Street Prince Myshkin Russian Imperial Stout, one of the highest rated beers out there.
