We’ve spent countless hours, days and weeks calculating and restructuring our entire business model, and we are thrilled to share what we’ve landed on. These changes are intended to be permanent, not just during Covid-19 or until the next Phase of the pandemic, but we are very much still learning and tweaking as we go. We have heard from several community members that a service fee in lieu of tipping would be a welcome change, but we continue to listen to feedback.

BEGINNING JULY 28, 2020 @ DOCK STREET WEST

- We are eliminating tipping at this location, and are moving to a service charge model, with a living wage for Front of House and Back of House in mind. Now, a 15% service charge will be added to all orders, excluding takeout cases.

- The Cashier position will start at $17/hour, with an opportunity for an hourly raise upon completion of the Cicerone certification.

- Support Staff positions will start at $15/hour, with an opportunity for an hourly raise upon completion of Cicerone certification.

- Opportunity for an hourly raise upon completion of the Cicerone Certification. (Dock Street reimburses the cost of Cicerone certification program.)

- Higher than Living Wage for BOH (Back of House) staff as well

- Dock Street will contribute 50% towards Health Care coverage through our company policy (currently Blue Cross) for Full-Time employees (30+ hrs/week) in Front of House, Back of House, and Administrative roles. We will cover a smaller % for employees that work part-time (20hrs/week)

One thing we'd like to remind our community is that while we may not be perfect every single day, Dock Street has ALWAYS listened and acted. We said we'd be better and that is exactly what we are doing. We are testing a system that is rippling through the country and industry right now and hoping the shoe fits our West Philly location. We hope that our community will be with us as we continue to strive for a pleasant environment for our team and customers alike.
