We just celebrated Dock Street's 8th anniversary in the firehouse in August, and we toasted with eight special beers.
We've been brewing beers + hand-tossing wood-fired pizzas for eight beautiful years in West Philly. To celebrate, we served up eight delicious beers to toast to the neighborhood, the firehouse, and our newest West Philly incarnation in the company's nearly 30 year history.
The eight beers for eight years are....
Chamomillionaire
Tart and fruity golden ale fermented dry and dosed with additions of organic chamomile.
Barrel Soured Ninos Prickly Pears, 2013 Vintage
Bier de Garde brewed with prickly pears. Barrel aged for two years and inoculated with a slurry of wild yeasts and bacteria. Dry, tart, funky, and fruity.
Prince Myshkin Russian Imperial Stout, 2015
Our RIS is one of the highest rated beers out there. Pours a deep, opaque, midnight-black, with a dense milk colored head. Brewed with a large percentage of roasted and chocolate malts, this huge beer is then aged on oak chips for added depth and complexity. Flavors are reminiscent of dark fruits, chocolate and sandalwood, making Prince Myshkin’s Stout perfect for dessert, or a dangerously smooth nightcap. "But who's Prince Myshkin," you may be wondering? He's the Idiot-Sauvant from Dostoyevsky's novel, The Idiot, who the Russian writer described as "entirely positive... with an absolutely beautiful nature".
Golden goat
Traditional German Maibock lager. Maibock means ‘May brew.’ Strong enough for late winter, drinkable enough to welcome spring, and still delicious come summer. Peanut butter and fresh bread aromas and flavors are balanced with a spicy finish.
Philly Trippel
Brewed in collaboration with Anne-Catherine Dilewyns of Brouwerij Dilewyns (Vicaris) during Philly Beer Week 2014. A beautiful, dry trippel brewed with Philadelphia honey.
2012 Barley Wine
Our original Barley Wine recipe, cellared 3 years, creating a more mellow, rounded drinking experience. This is a formidable ale that demands respect. Sly strong with a velvety finish, a pleasant nose and underlying oak flavor make this a truly singular ale. Please drink responsibly - and respectfully.
Summer In Berlin
Old dog, new tricks; a sour twist on our beloved Summer Session. Behold, our 'Philly Style' Berliner Weisse brewed with fresh lemongrass and fresh ginger. This tart, sessionable beer begs for hot weather. Summer in Berlin opens up with a refreshing lactic punch that melds beautifully with grassy citrus notes and finishes with a subtle ginger spice. Your new favorite summer beer. Repeat.
Rye IPA
Our O.G. since Day 1 at the firehouse. An aggressively hopped American Style India Pale Ale brewed with Columbus, Simcoe and Amarillo hops. The use of 20% rye gives this ale it's trademark dry and spicy character. It's been voted among the Top 25 Rye Beers in the World on Beer Advocate. This special anniversary batch is dry-hopped.
