One of the many self-evident truths about Dock Street (besides our dedication to the Pursuit of Hoppiness) is that we harbor a lot of respect for music and hip-hop culture. (Remember our Wu Tang-infused brew, Dock Street Beer Ain’t Nothing To Funk With?)

Our next toast to the art comes in the form of nicethings IPA, a beer collaboration co-brewed by our friend, West Philly neighbor, and one of the hardest working artists in the game, Chill Moody.

When he’s not performing (did you catch him at our annual Music Fest in June?), recording albums that top iTunes charts, or making TV and radio appearances as a Philadelphia Music Ambassador, Chill Moody is a regular at our place. Many a day, he stops by to hang out and run some 'quality control.'

For the past few months, though, he’s been stepping into the brewery to brainstorm, brew and taste a few batches of our working co-creation, nicethings.

It's like Chill says:

"From the little victories to the big milestones, even some of these trying times we face, you just have to appreciate what you have, as nice things."

Heard that!

nicethings is as much about experimentation as it is about expression, so Chill Moody and Vince DesRosiers, our Head Brewer, whipped up three batches of beer with nice (obvi) ingredients like pineapple, mango, lemon balm, and fresh-to-death Mosaic hops.

We want you to come weigh in on Round 1 of the collaboration and vote on the final batch, which will debut on September 30th as a Philadelphia sendoff for Chill's performance at The Roots Picnic in New York.

Come by to meet Chill Moody, watch him drop a rhyme, and try a flight of all three nicethings styles. Vote on your favorite batch, which Chill will come back to brew and package.

The final batch of nicethings IPA will be available at a handful of select music venues and here at Dock Street Brewery in West Philly, Chill’s hometown.
