When life gives you a pandemic…make pizzas!

We started offering DIY Pizza Kits right around the start of this pandemic, and while COVID-19 has really shaken up everyone’s lives, we can say one bright spot has been seeing all the pizzas - the good, the mouthwatering, and the lopsided - that you all have created at home! There have been some real masterpieces, from artfully arranged veggies-topped pizzas, to conjoined pizza twins, grilled ‘za, and little minis, all using the ingredients from our kit plus stuff you all have in your fridges at home. We are so inspired by the recipes you’re churning out, that we want to add a winning one to our full pizza menu!
From March 1-17th, buy a pizza kit at Dock Street South or Dock Street West (ORDER ONLINE HERE and choose your nearest location, instructions are included with each kit) and post it on Instagram (be sure to tag @DockStreetBeer + @DockStreetSouth and use the hashtag #DockStreetDIY). Since we’re all socially distancing, we’ll be judging by looks and recipe content alone. (Hey, they do say, “You eat first with your eyes.”)
We'll choose a winning creation to add to our menu at Dock Street West + Dock Street South for a minimum of 2 months. The winner and a runner up will also win pizza and beer prizes.
You can name the pizza whatever you want - yes, you can name it after yourself - but the name must not be vulgar or offensive - we’re a family spot. (We reserve final approval on the name in that spirit.)
The judges are PJ Freeman (Dock Street West Head Chef of 11 years) who knows good pizza and could make a stellar pie with a blindfold on; Bari Goldstein of Bari's Belly, who knows everything about Philly food culture and where to get the best grub in town; and Philly’s culture queen, Alicia Vitarelli - 6ABC Anchor and FYI Philly Host.
Each kit is $11-17 and includes either one or two individual-sized pizza doughs because even though sharing is caring, now is quite literally the right time for a pizza of one’s own. Sauce and cheese is also included.
HOW TO ENTER:
1.) Get a Dock Street Pizza Kit from Dock Street South or Dock Street West.
2.) Follow @DockStreetBeer, @DockStreetSouth, @Baris_Belly and @aliciavitarelli on Insta.
3.) Post a photo on Instagram, Facebook or Twitter and tag @DockStreetBeer with the hashtag #DockStreetDIY. Unfortunately, if you have a private account, we won’t be able to see your entry so please make sure your account is set to PUBLIC at least for the last few days while the judges are reviewing!
