Can you believe it’s been 3 months since Dock Street has been able to welcome you all here to eat and drink? (Real talk, it feels like 3 years…)

While the global pandemic is most certainly not over yet, things are easing up a little and we have received some Yellow Phase guidelines about how to safely start to reopen.

Beginning June 12, 2020, Dock Street West + Dock Street South will be open for outdoor dining (with limited seating), plus we’re continuing takeout via online ordering. 

What we’re doing to keep everyone safe:

  • Tables will be 6 feet apart (And outdoor only. Really driving that point home.)

  • Indoor areas will remain closed, although guests are permitted to enter to use the restrooms and wash hands. (Hand sanitizer will be available, also.)

  • Our staff will be wearing masks at all times. Dock Street will continue to provide disposable PPE masks for our staffers that do not have their own.

  • Guests should also wear masks while not eating/drinking. 

  • Because we’ll have a limited number of tables open, we’ll be running with a limited number of front-of-house staff at each location, which will minimize staff exposure and guest exposure, and leave more physical space for people to stay distanced.

  • It’s not the most environmentally friendly, but for this time, short-term, we’re using disposable cups and paper plates. Normally, this is not in line with our efforts to minimize waste, so we’ll keep monitoring CDC and state guidelines and switch back to glass/ceramic when it is deemed safe.

How will service work?

DOCK STREET WEST will be switching to a self-service model, so guests will place their orders with a cashier (stationed near the entry way for now) and will receive their drinks upon ordering. Food will be called out by name when it’s ready to come grab it. We feel this will minimize too much moving around between tables, and also provides some relief for our staff, who would otherwise have to be running between tables outdoors in the Philly heat with a mask on. 

You are of course encouraged to tip the cashiers, as they’ll be doing a lot behind the scenes to make this whole process super streamlined. (Think: A duck in a pond, looking chill on the surface but with legs pumping away furiously underwater. That’s us.)


DOCK STREET SOUTH will continue with a self-service model as before, slightly modified to comply with new guidelines. Same as above - tips are encouraged 😎
